Jumping into the novel "Dead Beat", the story, ironcially, is step the week leading up to Halloween, starts up at the dilemia set at the feet of the series' protaginest. It starts up with a wild chase of blackmail and sacrafice, mainly in the sake of a friend.

It is a thrilling read for this time of year, featuring nightmareish creatures that fit right into the Halloween scene that starts up. The story is compelling and riveting, a highly recommended book for anyone who enjoys this time of year, or even this genre of books.
